PARCOURS
ORANGEVILLE PREP
Il a également été élu BioSteel All-Canadian Player of the Year à deux reprises.
recrutement NCAA

OKLAHOMA STATE

First Team All-WAC 2025
NABC All-District 2025
WAC Player of the Week
WAC Newcomer of the Week à plusieurs reprises

MOTOR CITY CRUISE — G-LEAGUE

BRAMPTON HONEY BADGERS — CEBL 2026

Deux fois BioSteel All-Canadian Player of the Year
Ontario Final 8 Champion avec Orangeville Prep
Team Canada U17
Team Canada U19
First Team All-WAC 2025
NABC All-District 2025
WAC Player of the Week
WAC Newcomer of the Week

DRAFT NBA

A SURVEILLER
1. Son prochain contrat.
2. Son pourcentage à 3 points.
3. Son pourcentage aux lancers francs.

He completed his college career in 2025 at Seattle University.

CURRENT SITUATION

As of September 26, 2026, I cannot find any officially announced professional contract for Moncrieffe for the 2026-2027 season.

He is no longer a college player as his NCAA career is complete.

He is not currently listed as a member of the Motor City Cruise.

He finished his 2026 CEBL season with the Brampton Honey Badgers in August.

His current status is therefore particularly interesting for a European club: a player currently available on the market.

BACKGROUND AND FAMILY

Moncrieffe is Canadian with Jamaican roots.

He has stated that his parents are Jamaican.

His family is based in the Toronto area.

He also has family links to the high-level Canadian basketball community.

Some specialized sources describe him as being related to the Alexander-Walker / Gilgeous-Alexander family, but the exact degree of relationship is not sufficiently documented in official sources for me to consider it confirmed information in an FBS profile.

CAREER

ORANGEVILLE PREP

Moncrieffe made a name for himself at Orangeville Prep in Canada.

He was considered one of the top Canadian prospects of his generation.

During his final high school season, he averaged around 21.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

He won the Ontario Final 8 Championship with Orangeville Prep.

He was also named BioSteel All-Canadian Player of the Year twice.

His NCAA recruitment was significant.

He was notably rated as a four-star prospect by several American recruiting services.

TEAM CANADA

Moncrieffe represented Canada at youth level.

He participated in the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup.

Canada finished 4th in the competition.

Moncrieffe averaged approximately 11.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

He also participated in the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup.

This international experience is an interesting part of his career, as he already had FIBA basketball experience before entering the professional game.

OKLAHOMA STATE

He then joined Oklahoma State University in the NCAA.

During the 2020-2021 season, he played 28 games and averaged approximately 9.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in 21.9 minutes.

He shot 51.3% from the field.

During the 2021-2022 season, his playing time decreased.

He finished the season averaging approximately 4.2 points and 3.9 rebounds in 14.8 minutes.

His time at Oklahoma State was therefore interesting, but did not yet match the level of production he would later reach at Seattle.

GEORGIA

He then joined the Georgia Bulldogs.

During the 2022-2023 season, he played 28 games, including 26 starts.

He averaged approximately 5.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 20.5 minutes.

His rebounding activity was already an important characteristic of his game.

The 2023-2024 season was much more difficult.

He played only 16 games and his statistics dropped to approximately 1.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 8.6 minutes.

This was a period of his career in which he lost significant playing time.

SEATTLE UNIVERSITY — 2024-2025 SEASON

It was at Seattle University that Moncrieffe enjoyed his best NCAA season.

He played 29 games and started all of them.

His statistics were particularly interesting:

15.2 points

9.6 rebounds

1.1 assists

1.0 steal

0.6 blocks

55.5% from the field

65.9% from the free-throw line

He recorded 11 double-doubles.

He became one of the NCAA's better rebounders.

He finished among the NCAA leaders in defensive rebounds.

He also received several individual honors.

HONORS AT SEATTLE

First Team All-WAC 2025

NABC All-District 2025

WAC Player of the Week

WAC Newcomer of the Week multiple times

This season is particularly important when evaluating his potential because it showed that he can be much more than simply an energy player when given a significant role.

MOTOR CITY CRUISE — G-LEAGUE

Moncrieffe then earned an opportunity with the Motor City Cruise.

His path was somewhat unusual, as he notably went through the open tryout system.

He played 19 G-League regular-season games.

His statistics were approximately:

5.2 points

4.4 rebounds

0.6 assists

in approximately 15.5 minutes per game.

His raw statistics were therefore relatively modest.

However, his limited playing time needs to be taken into consideration.

He recorded 16 points and 15 rebounds in a game in January 2026.

He was nevertheless unable to secure a major role, and his G-League stint remained limited.

BRAMPTON HONEY BADGERS — CEBL 2026

After his G-League experience, he joined the Brampton Honey Badgers for the 2026 CEBL season.

This was an important step because he returned to a much larger role.

He averaged approximately:

10 points

8.8 to 9.8 rebounds

1.3 to 1.4 assists

1 steal

0.5 to 0.6 blocks

in approximately 26 minutes per game.

His field-goal percentage was around 56%.

Rebounding therefore remained a constant despite the change in level and context.

END OF CEBL SEASON

His latest known game is particularly revealing.

On August 15, 2026, he finished with:

7 points

16 rebounds

This performance perfectly illustrates one of his main strengths: his activity on the glass.

OFFENSIVE PROFILE

Moncrieffe is primarily a physical and mobile forward who looks to attack the basket.

He is effective when he can run in transition.

He can finish around the basket.

He can attack open spaces.

He can also take advantage of his offensive rebounding activity.

His offensive profile, however, is not that of a primary creator.

STRENGTHS

REBOUNDING

This is probably his number one strength.

He averaged 9.6 rebounds per game at Seattle.

He averaged approximately 9 rebounds per game in the 2026 CEBL.

He has a genuine ability to go after the ball and create second-chance opportunities.

For a power forward, his rebounding activity is particularly interesting.

ATHLETICISM

For a player measuring 2.03 m and approximately 97 kg, he has good mobility.

He can run the floor.

He can defend on the move.

He can attack the basket.

He can also finish above the rim.

His motor is an important part of his profile.

TRANSITION

He can be effective in a team that plays at a fast pace.

After a defensive rebound, he can immediately run the floor.

He can also be used as a lane runner.

This profile can be interesting for a team looking to increase its activity and pace.

FINISHING

His two-point efficiency is interesting.

At Seattle, he shot more than 57% from two-point range.

In the CEBL, he was also highly efficient around the interior.

He therefore does not rely on outside shooting to score.

DRIVING

Moncrieffe is capable of attacking the basket aggressively.

His free-throw volume at Seattle is revealing.

He attempted more than 7 free throws per game during his reference season.

This shows that he knows how to generate contact when attacking the basket.

DEFENSE

He has the physical tools to defend several types of forwards.

His lateral mobility is interesting.

He also has enough length and activity to make plays in passing lanes.

He is not a true rim protector at the 5 position, but he can provide defensive activity.

WEAKNESSES

THREE-POINT SHOOTING

This is his main weakness.

His three-point shooting volume is very low.

At Seattle, he did not make any of his three-point attempts during the season.

His percentage was also low in the 2026 CEBL.

He therefore cannot currently be considered a true stretch-4.

This is probably the main reason why his offensive profile remains limited.

FREE-THROW SHOOTING

This is also an area of concern.

He shot around 66% from the free-throw line during his best NCAA season.

His 2026 CEBL percentage was significantly lower.

For a player who regularly attacks the basket, this weakness is important.

CREATION

He is not a primary creator.

He averages around one assist per game.

He can attack closeouts or put the ball on the floor.

However, he does not yet have the profile of a player capable of consistently creating offensive situations for his teammates.

HANDLE

His ball-handling is sufficient to attack in a straight line.

However, his handle remains an area for improvement.

He is much more effective when playing with limited dribbles.

He still needs to improve his changes of direction and his reads when attacking a moving defender.

INJURIES

The best-documented injury of his career is an ankle injury during the 2022-2023 season at Georgia.

He suffered the injury during the game against Western Carolina.

He left the game after the first half.

He subsequently missed the next two games before returning.

I cannot find reliable evidence of surgery or a major injury that significantly interrupted his career.

HONORS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

NBA DRAFT

Moncrieffe was not selected in the 2025 NBA Draft.

He is therefore not currently considered a traditional future NBA mock-draft prospect.

At 25, his path back toward the NBA would more likely involve another G-League opportunity, a training camp, an Exhibit 10 contract, a two-way contract or a direct signing.

His G-League experience nevertheless gives him previous exposure to the American professional level.

FRANCE PROJECTION

For the French market, I find his profile particularly interesting.

I currently see him as a player capable of having a significant impact in Elite 2.

His rebounding, activity, physical profile and ability to run the floor could be immediately utilized.

He could be used as a starting 4, a small-ball 4/5 or a major energy player.

BETCLIC ÉLITE PROJECTION

I also believe he could interest a Betclic Élite team, although with more questions.

Initially, I would see him more as a rotation or development player.

To establish himself consistently at this level, he will need to improve his outside shooting, free-throw shooting, offensive decision-making and defensive consistency.

His G-League and international experience are nevertheless interesting elements when evaluating his potential adaptation to the European level.

EUROPEAN PROJECTION

His profile could interest several European markets.

I would look at:

France

BNXT

Germany

Poland

The Netherlands

Certain Eastern European markets

His profile is better suited to a team looking for an athletic, rebounding and defensive forward than to a team primarily looking for an outside scorer.

SLEEPER / UNDERDOG

Yes, I consider him an interesting sleeper.

He is obviously not an unknown player.

He has a background as a four-star prospect, Team Canada experience, several NCAA seasons and G-League experience.

The "sleeper" aspect mainly comes from his current status compared with his physical tools and production when given significant responsibilities.

He is currently available while possessing a profile that could interest certain European teams.

WHAT COULD CHANGE HIS CAREER TRAJECTORY

The clear priority for development is outside shooting.

If he becomes capable of consistently punishing defenses when they leave him open, his offensive profile becomes much more interesting.

He could then attack closeouts, play more as a 4 and have more space to utilize his physical tools.

Improving his free-throw shooting would also be important.

WHAT I WOULD MONITOR FOR FBS

1. His next contract.

2. His three-point percentage.

3. His free-throw percentage.

4. His ability to maintain a rebounding level close to 8-10 rebounds per game.

5. His ability to defend the European 3 and 4 positions effectively.

6. His offensive usage on a team giving him more responsibility.

SUMMARY
Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe is a 2.03 m / 97 kg Canadian forward, currently a free agent, with a profile built around athleticism, rebounding, defense, transition play and finishing. His 2024-25 season at Seattle, when he averaged 15.2 points and 9.6 rebounds, represents his main individual reference point.
He is an interesting sleeper for the European market, particularly for Elite 2, with Betclic Élite potential if his outside shooting and free-throw shooting improve. His current status as an available player makes him a file worth monitoring for FBS.
